About Us

The Tamang Buddhist Federation Nepal, established on July 9th, 2014, is a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-political organization committed to the empowerment and preservation of the Tamang Buddhist indigenous tribal community of Nepal. This federation is not just a single entity but a collective alliance, formed by the collaboration of multiple Buddhist organizations. These organizations have come together to work as a unified team, dedicated to the common cause of safeguarding and promoting the rich cultural and spiritual legacy of the Tamang people.

The roots of the Tamang Buddhist Federation Nepal trace back to the recognition of a pressing need within the Tamang community—a need to protect their unique identity and cultural heritage in the face of modernization and external influences. Established in 2014, the Federation was born out of the collaborative efforts of various Buddhist groups who realized that a united front would be more effective in achieving their shared goals. Over the years, the Federation has played a pivotal role in revitalizing and preserving the Buddhist philosophy, Sambhota script, and traditional practices of the Tamang people. The organization has been instrumental in organizing cultural events, educational programs, and community initiatives that reinforce the Tamang identity and ensure its transmission to future generations.

The mission of the Tamang Buddhist Federation Nepal is deeply rooted in the principles of compassion, wisdom, and community service. The organization strives to uplift the Tamang community by promoting Buddhist education and moral values, which are seen as the bedrock of a harmonious and enlightened society. The Federation is dedicated to providing the Tamang people with the tools and opportunities they need to improve their quality of life, focusing on areas such as education, cultural preservation, environmental conservation, and humanitarian support. By engaging enthusiastic youth, expert monks, and dedicated disciples from various Buddhist backgrounds, the Federation works tirelessly to develop the Tamang community into a self-reliant and flourishing society. The Federation’s mission is not just about preserving the past but also about guiding the Tamang people towards a future where they can prosper while staying true to their cultural and spiritual roots.

The vision of the Tamang Buddhist Federation Nepal is one of transformation and progress. The organization envisions a future where the Tamang community is not only self-sufficient but also a model of cultural preservation and spiritual integrity. The Federation aims to create a society where the Tamang people can thrive economically, socially, and spiritually, all while maintaining their unique identity. This vision includes a strong focus on education, which the Federation believes is the key to unlocking the community’s potential. By promoting Buddhist teachings and moral values, the Federation seeks to instil a sense of purpose and direction in the Tamang people, guiding them towards a life of fulfilment and harmony.

  • The Federation’s vision is also about collaboration and inclusivity.
  • It aims to work closely with local communities, authorities, and other stakeholders to create an environment where the Tamang people can achieve self-sufficiency and long-term sustainability.
  • This includes fostering economic opportunities, supporting environmental initiatives, and ensuring that the Tamang culture and traditions are passed down to future generations.
  • Our vision recognizes that religion, culture, and tradition are essential pillars of social development. The Buddhist philosophy, Sambhota script, and the rich traditions and rituals of the Tamang tribe play a crucial role in the sustainable advancement of society.
  • To preserve and promote the cultural identity and dignity of the Tamang community, it is vital to protect, foster, and share our cultural heritage.
  • This includes identifying and celebrating the traditions, customs, rituals, and cultural diversity within the Tamang society, while also nurturing the corresponding Buddhist culture.
  • We are committed to addressing and preventing social issues such as sexual harassment, drug abuse, addiction, gambling, and obscenity.
  •  By enhancing the level of education within the Tamang community and fostering unity, we aim to eliminate societal distortions and contribute to the creation of a welfare-oriented nation.
  • We believe that the success of our efforts lies in collective unity, and that only through such unity can we achieve our goals.
  • Recognizing the need to establish a purely religious and social organization to safeguard the collective rights, interests, values, and recognition of the Tamang community, we have come together to create the “Tamang Buddhist Federation, Nepal.”
  • Through mutual coordination, harmony, and understanding, we strive to build an advanced, capable, and civilized society for the future of the Tamang people.
