Biography of Kumari Singar Tamang

Kumari Singar, born on April 13, 2000, in Mahankal-02, Lalitpur, Nepal, is a dedicated government officer (Contractual Government Employee), social activist, and passionate advocate for community development and empowerment. Raised by her supportive parents, Ram Lal Singar and Lali Maya Singar, Kumari has been instilled with a strong sense of social responsibility and a desire to foster positive change within her community. She is deeply committed to her role as an Enterprise Development Facilitator at Mahankal Rural Municipality, Lalitpur District, where she has been serving since 2019. In this role, Kumari helps to support local entrepreneurs by guiding them in developing sustainable business practices and fostering economic self-reliance, contributing to the overall development of the region.

Kumari’s journey toward social impact began early in her life, influenced by her parents’ values of hard work and dedication. Her educational pursuits reflect her commitment to community development. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work (B.S.W.) at Jana Bhawana Campus, Lalitpur, Nepal, and is determined to continue building upon her academic foundation to enhance her ability to serve her community. Kumari has also earned a Diploma in Enterprise Development Facilitation (Level 2 & 3) from the National Skill Testing Board (NSTB) of Nepal and a Diploma in Computer Technology from Adobe Softech Technology Pvt. Ltd., where she achieved top honors in 2020. These academic accomplishments reflect her wide-ranging skills and her commitment to acquiring knowledge in fields that can empower her community.

Throughout her career, Kumari has held several key positions that showcase her leadership and dedication to social causes. She was appointed as a District Member for the Government of Nepal’s Women, Children, and Social Welfare Ministry, serving on the Central Child Welfare Committee and District Children Welfare Committee from 2016 to 2019. Her leadership in these roles allowed her to advocate for children’s rights and work towards improving the welfare of underprivileged children in Lalitpur.

Currently, Kumari serves as the Head of the Women and Children’s Department at Mahankal Rural Municipality, a position she assumed in November 2024. In this capacity, she works to empower women and children by promoting gender equality, improving access to resources, and advocating for their rights within the local government framework. In addition, Kumari is the founder and secretary of the Buddha Youth Club, established in 2019, where she plays a pivotal role in mentoring youth and organizing programs focused on social welfare and community development. She is also an Assistant Director at Beema Samiti under the Nepal Insurance Authority, where she obtained her license in 2021, further expanding her professional expertise.

Kumari’s experience is not limited to her government roles. She has actively contributed as an intern with the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Association of Nepal (FWEAN), focusing on the socio-economic empowerment of disadvantaged women and girls in southern Lalitpur. Her volunteer work with national and international organizations, such as Oxfam Nepal, Plan International Nepal, Save the Children, and URJAA Nepal (The Youth Collective), reflects her commitment to women’s rights, children’s welfare, and community development. Kumari also participated in the International Citizen Service (ICS), where she was recognized for her positive contribution during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kumari has received numerous accolades for her work, including a Certificate of Achievement from ICS, awarded by former UK Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Theresa May, for her exceptional work as a community youth volunteer. She has also received certificates of appreciation for her role in preparing reports on CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women) and for her contributions to the Girls Community Radio Takeover project. These recognitions highlight her ongoing commitment to empowering women and children and advocating for social justice.

Beyond her professional work, Kumari has a wide array of personal interests that contribute to her well-rounded character. She is passionate about training, hosting seminars, organizing programs, and conducting research. Additionally, she has a deep interest in dance, art, music, and photography, all of which reflect her creative and expressive side. Kumari is also an avid reader and traveler, constantly seeking inspiration from diverse cultures and perspectives.

Fluent in Nepali, English, and Hindi, Kumari is known for her excellent interpersonal and communication skills, which enable her to connect with people from all walks of life. Her leadership style is characterized by empathy, dedication, and a supportive approach, and she is adept at motivating teams and individuals toward achieving common goals. Her problem-solving abilities and her commitment to creating positive change make her a valuable asset to any team or initiative.
